OREM — Three Utah wrestlers came away with national championships in the Asics USA Wrestling Freestyle National Championships on Saturday at the McKay Event Center.

Caleb Williams, of Price, won a second crown in the 65-pound novice (11-12 year-olds) as he took home the gold in the freestyle and Greco-Roman championships. Williams defeated Brian Burchett 2-0, 1-0 in the championship match.

Joining Williams on top of the podium was Jaxon Cole and Wyatt Koelling. Cole, from Coalville, won the Midget (9-10 year-olds) 50-pound title by outlasting Ty Smith 3-9, 7-4, 10-5. Koelling, from Logan, stopped Shane Foster 5-3, 7-0 to claim the Midget 87-pound title.

Taylor Lamont, from Springville, missed winning the gold to go along with championship title won in Greco-Roman as Lamont was defeated by Austin Gomez of Illinois 0-8, 3-0, 7-0 in the novice 65-pound class. Lamont had beat Gomez in the championship match of the Greco tournament on Thursday.

Also placing in the top four for Team Utah in Midget were Brandon Meikel (fourth, 50 pounds), Cameron Hunsaker (second, 55 pounds), Israel Herrera (fourth, 75 pounds), Sean Johnson (third, 75 pounds) and Ashton Seely (fourth, 80 pounds).
