The wife of a man killed by a drunken driver has filed a lawsuit against the people she says provided alcohol to the driver who took her husband's life.
Chad L. Hayward was killed April 27 when a car driven by Finhas Habib ran a red light near 2100 South and Bangerter Highway, smashing into Hayward's pickup.
Habib was sentenced to one to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to automobile homicide, a second-degree felony, in December.
On Wednesday, LeAnn Hayward filed a lawsuit against two people and several unnamed defendants, claiming they did not exercise "reasonable care" because they provided Habib with alcohol when they knew he was already intoxicated.
LeAnn Hayward is seeking damages for medical and funeral expenses, lost wages and suffering.
