On June 28, the finals were held for the world-renowned Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City. The winner, Si Jing Ye, performed Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 1 in B Flat Minor. However, the sixth-place winner, Beatrice Rana of Italy, played this same concerto much more classically and beautifully, with much better posture and technique.
In addition, the rest of the judging was equally crazy. Jonathan Floril of Spain played Concerto No. 5 in E flat major by Beethoven so wonderfully that anybody could see he was a winner. But then all of the six contestants played beautifully. They are the great pianists of tomorrow.
