I agree strongly with Elmary Davidson (Readers' Forum, June 30) about the Supreme Court's decision to lift the death penalty for rapists of young victims. We need to send a strong warning to those who violate a child's innocence. The death penalty for this and other heinous crimes would be a warning.

Our judicial system is too soft on crime. Criminals languish in overcrowded prisons for life sentences that we, the taxpayers, support. We are actually supporting the criminals. We definitely need to change the system.
