WEST VALLEY CITY — Police here continued looking today for a young girl believed to have taken off with an older man.

An endangered person advisory was issued Sunday for Anai Rivero-Martinez, who just turned 14 earlier this month. She is believed to be with Marcos Margarito, 20. Although detectives believe the girl went with the man willingly, the advisory was issued because of the age difference, said West Valley Police Capt. Tom McLachlan.

Martinez left home without telling her parents about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the missing person's advisory. Her sister told police she may be headed to Las Vegas.

About 10 a.m. Saturday, Martinez's parents called police to report her as a runaway, McLachlan said.

On Sunday, they received a call from Martinez, briefly saying, "They've got me in California." Her voice did not sound panicked or in fear at that time, McLachlan said.

Margarito is about 5 feet 2 inches tall, has very short hair or a shaved head, and has numerous tattoos, including "guerero" on his left forearm, a woman on his right forearm and a teardrop below his left eye. The two were possibly traveling in a white, late '90s Ford Windstar.

Margarito had been in Utah from Las Vegas since April working. He reportedly had some sort of relationship going with Martinez, which the father was opposed to, McLachlan said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 840-4000.
