Does President Michael Young really want his legacy at the University of Utah to be the rape of the U. golf course? (Daily Utah Chronicle, June 18.)

Does this community realize what it is about to lose?

Does the University of Utah really need another track and more playing fields?

The obliteration of the golf course, that little jewel of open space, is about to be sacrificed to the wrong-headed decision of a few who are anxious to leave their mark there. Most other campuses with such an asset would be guarding that choice landmark. You don't see Stanford University giving up its 18 hole golf course — even in that pricey real estate market.

There are other open spaces in this desert campus for more playing fields.

Someone, please help.
