WEST VALLEY CITY — Police have arrested a woman after a wild overnight chase through part of the Salt Lake Valley.

An officer on patrol around 4:30 a.m. spotted two vehicles driving up Redwood Road at a high speed. The pickup then rammed into the other car, West Valley City Police Sgt. John Pearce said.

"He pulls over the one that's been rammed. The occupant says, 'That's my truck that's been stolen. It rammed me,'" Pearce said.

The officer then chased the truck up Redwood Road, onto Interstate 80 and Interstate 15. In Murray, officers deployed tire spikes near 5600 South, and the truck eventually stopped.

"The officer started to come up to the truck to give commands, and the driver wouldn't comply," Pearce said. "She threw a gun case out of the car."

Police said the woman was combative, and a police dog had to be deployed. The woman fought the dog and was eventually Tasered. The woman was taken to the hospital to be checked out before being booked into jail.
