OGDEN — Criminal charges have been filed against a man police say held his ex-girlfriend captive for a week inside his apartment.

Levi Scott Cavin, 24, made an appearance Thursday before a 2nd District Court judge where he was formally charged with first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and interfering with a communications device, a class B misdemeanor. According to court records, Cavin was appointed a public defender and bail was set at nearly $22,000. Cavin's next court appearance is July 3.

On Thursday, a restraining order was also filed against him by the woman he is accused of kidnapping.

Ogden police said she went over to Cavin's apartment, where she was held for seven days until she convinced him to go get food stamps. Once they left together, she was able to break away and call her current boyfriend, who called police. Officers found her at Cavin's apartment.
