PROVO — A Utah County man died after crashing into oncoming traffic on the winding road through Provo Canyon Wednesday.

Scott Ross, 32, was killed when his car crossed the center line and collided with a westbound sport utility vehicle just after 10 a.m., said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brett Christensen.

The impact sent the SUV rolling. The five people inside — two adults, two children and an infant — were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused Ross to cross the center line.

Ross' death marked the third fatal accident on U.S. 189 in less than two months.
