Roughly three-quarters of voters (78%) cite education as an issue important to their vote for president, the same number who cite health care, energy and Social Security. Even though large majorities of Republicans (73%) and independents (74%) rate education as a very important issue, even more Democrats see it as a high priority (87%). About the same number of voters rate education as very important this year as did so in October 2004 (75%).
