A West Valley man has been charged with robbing a diner and an ice cream shop earlier this month.

On June 18, the 32-year-old gave notes to employees at a Baskin Robbins, 1465 E. 2100 South, and a Village Inn, 2900 S. State, stating he had a gun and wanted money, according to charges filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court.

The man took more than $160 from the ice cream shop and more than $740 from the diner, according to the charges. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

He also been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after police said the man's vehicle bumped into a car while leaving the Village Inn parking lot.
