Eugene Trousdale (Readers' Forum, June 21) declares that the recent Supreme Court ruling reinstating habeas corpus for the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is a step back in the right direction.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The detainees at Guantanamo were captured on the battlefields in Iraq by our troops, not by civilian authorities.

If they were innocent, then what were they doing on the battlefields? Many now being released are going right back out on the battlefields and re-engaging our troops. Talk about crazy nonsense.

We were invaded by Islamic terrorists.

Enough said.
