ESCALANTE, Garfield County — The U.S. Forest Service said Friday evening that they've achieved 100 percent containment of a fire that's been burning near here since Sunday.

The blaze, believed to have been sparked by a vehicle fire, consumed over 2,200 acres and cost nearly $2 million to bring under control.

Some mop-up work will continue today, and area closures will remain in effect.

Eleven firefighting crews from multiple state and federal agencies battled the blaze in which only a single injury was reported.
