A judge has ordered a diagnostic evaluation for David Aaron Wilson, 25, who pleaded guilty to beating and biting his grandmother.
Wilson previously entered guilty pleas to second-degree felony aggravated abuse of a disabled or elderly person and third-degree felony violation of a no-contact order. As part of the agreement, other charges were dismissed.
Wilson was scheduled to be sentenced Friday, but 3rd District Judge Michele Christiansen instead ordered a 60-day evaluation. She also reset the sentencing for Sept. 5.
Prosecutors contend Wilson viciously attacked his 68-year-old grandmother in her home Sept. 22, 2007. He has been held in the Salt Lake County Jail on $50,000 bail.
