To all the conservatives accusing Barack Obama of flip-flopping over his public funding decision: Do you really think it would be better to fall back on government-mediated, tax-based campaign funding after raising so much directly from individuals? If he knew he'd be the first person in history to inspire this kind of participation, he wouldn't have even made the statement that many are calling a "pledge" to take public money — which it wasn't. Because he did bring our country to this staggering milestone of grass-roots funding, he has proven yet again that his words are anything but empty, and that he is a true leader. Any true conservative should be able to see this was the right choice.
