HOLLADAY The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a 16-year-old boy killed after falling 40 feet through a sky light at Bonneville Jr. High School early Thursday evening.

Sean Michael McCoy and a friend arrived at the school early before soccer practice and climbed on the roof of the school, 5530 S. 1660 East. McCoy was walking above the gymnasium when he fell through a skylight, hitting the gym floor according to Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Shane Manwaring.

The teens split up on the roof of the school, with McCoy's friend staying on top of the main part of the school and the victim walking on the gymnasium roof.

"His friend heard a crashing noise and called out to his friend," Manwaring said. "The friend didn't answer him, so he climbed onto the roof of the gymnasium. That's where he saw that the skylight had been broken and his friend was at the bottom."

McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene.
