BUENA VISTA, Va. — Southern Virginia University athletic director Tom Longenecker has announced that former BYU football star Tyler Anderson has been named an assistant football coach, the director of athletic retention and the head men's and women's track coach at the school.

Anderson comes to Buena Vista from Harmony High School in Harmony, Fla., where he was the head football coach. Anderson was also the head coach at Tooele High from 2000-03. In 2002, he guided the Buffaloes to the 3A state championship.

Prior to playing at BYU, Anderson starred at Orem High School, where he earned all-state honors and helped the Tigers win the state title in 1987. Anderson also ran track at Orem High and at BYU.
