LEHI — Dave Stockton Jr. sank a 6-foot birdie putt to help his team clinch the first-place prize in the 11th annual Sorenson Champions Challenge golf tournament Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point Golf Club.

Stockton and his father, Dave Stockton Sr., finished regulation play tied for the top spot with Johnny Miller and his son, Scott. Both teams posted 15-under-par scores of 55 in the two-man best ball event.

On the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, Stockton Jr. his approach shot within 6 feet of the cup and sank his birdie putt.

Both Millers subsequently missed their putt attempts from 15 feet away, and the Stocktons walked away with the tourney's top prize of $100,000 for them to split.

Third place went to Johnny Miller's other two sons, Andy and Todd Miller, at 57. LPGA star Annika Sorenstam and her sister, Charlotta Sorenstam, were next at 59, followed by Billy Casper and Bobby Casper, Dean Wilson and Charley Hoffman, and Jack Nicklaus II and Ian Baker-Finch, at 60.

Last year's champions, Mike Reid and Daniel Reid, put together a 61. Jack Nicklaus and Mike Nicklaus came in with a 62.
