I used to enjoy reading the Deseret News sports section. Sports Editor Kent Condon gathered a variety of sports news from Utah high schools, colleges, local, national and world sporting events.

Real Salt Lake hype was acceptable three years ago. But, why, with their win/loss record, do they continue to receive an inordinate amount of space in Deseret News sports? Twenty-seven separate RSL articles were printed from May 27 to June 8. Each succeeding article was repetitious hyperbole. The detailed quotes, "the goal just wasn't there for us," makes high school sports pages vital by comparison.

I am not opposed to soccer, just boring articles. The Deseret News high school soccer playoff series and the schools involved created interesting stories for many readers.

Considering RSL's stadium was forced on Utah taxpayers by the governor and Legislature, the excessive coverage given RSL by the Deseret News continues to be an irritant to subscribers and taxpayers.
