"The Incredible Hulk," the action movie about a man whose temper transforms him into a green beast, was the top film at U.S. and Canadian theaters this weekend with sales of $54.5 million.

The movie topped director M. Night Shyamalan's "The Happening," a thriller starring Mark Wahlberg, that opened in third place with $30.5 million, box-office tracker Media By Numbers L.L.C. said Sunday in a statement.

"Kung Fu Panda," the animated comedy with the voice of Jack Black, dropped to second place with sales of $34.3 million. Other actors providing voices include Dustin Hoffman and Angelina Jolie.

Adam Sandler's "You Don't Mess With the Zohan," from Sony Corp., fell to fourth place from second with sales of $16.4 million.
