PROVO — A 75-year-old woman was arrested in Provo after she allegedly entered a neighbor's home and threatened her and others.

According to a 4th District Court affidavit of probable cause, the woman was arrested June 7 on investigation of mail theft, burglary of a residence, assault and failure to stop for a police officer.

Police said the woman entered a neighbor's home and, in front of children, began to yell at a woman. Witnesses told police that the woman also threw garbage at the other woman while telling her she was going to die, according to the affidavit. Then the woman began to tell other passers-by and neighbors that she was going to kill them, according to the affidavit.

The woman was later found to be in possession of mail from several nearby houses, on which she had written additional threats, according to the affidavit. Police said that the woman also failed to obey orders from a responding officer. Instead of following the officer's commands, the woman turned and ran from the officer, according to the affidavit. Police said the woman appeared to be mentally unstable and that she wouldn't speak to officers after her arrest. The woman was booked into Utah County Jail and held on $1,000 bail.
