A small plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Beaver Municipal Airport Thursday evening, critically injuring the three people on board.
Paul Wolden, a Beaver County sheriff's dispatcher, said the plane, a four-passenger Cessna Skyhawk, went down about 5 p.m. in an alfalfa field about one-half mile south of the airport, and one of the victims was able to make a cellular phone call for help. All three were transported to Beaver Valley Hospital.
Wolden said the incident was under investigation, and details about the plane's origin and destination, as well as victims' names, had not been released. The sheriff's office had determined the plane was registered to a company in Ogden.
