PROVO — Provo's traditional Flag Day ceremony will be today at 9 a.m. in the courtyard of the City Center, 351 W. Center.

The featured speaker will be Michael L. Mower, former community and government relations director for Provo and current state planning coordinator.

Mower worked for Provo from 2000 to 2005, when he left to serve as Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.'s deputy chief of staff and communications director. Before working for Provo, he was the manager of Rep. Chris Cannon's successful bid for U.S. Congress in 1994 and Cannon's first district director.

A community choir directed by Provo High School choir director Cory Mendenhall will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" and another patriotic number. The event is free and open to the public.
