A man accused of choking a woman, ditching her by the side of a freeway and driving off with her 7-month-old baby in the car, has been sentenced to prison.
Travis Ward Plumb, 31, originally was charged with first-degree felony kidnapping and class B misdemeanor assault. He pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and the misdemeanor charge was dismissed as part of the plea bargain.
Prosecutors maintain that Plumb was driving on I-80 with the woman and child on July 28, 2007, when he stopped the vehicle, pulled the woman out, choked her and left her there while he drove off with the infant boy inside.
An Amber Alert was issued.
The child later was found unhurt in the vehicle, which was left parked and locked, after a friend of Plumb's turned him in to police.
Third District Judge William Barrett on Monday sentenced Plumb to three-years-to-life in prison.
