Utah State golfer Toph Peterson led a group of 16 qualifiers at the North Region qualifier for the Utah State Amateur golf tournament by shooting a blistering 62 at the Logan Golf and Country Club.

Peterson, a Logan native, had nine birdies, an eagle and two bogeys to go with six pars in shooting the 9-under-par score. He was five shots better than second-place Keaton Woodland, who shot 67. Devin Daniels was third at 68, followed by Taylor Haws, Daniel Heath and Dave Loughton at 71.

The other qualifiers were Blake Broadhead, Jon Rhodes and Brady Hereford at 73 and Wyatt Burton, Bill Greider, Tyler Labrum, Cannon Randall, Daniel Smith, Thad Truman and Lance Williams at 74.

Other State Am qualifiers will be held at Hill AFB Thursday and Overlake in Tooele on Saturday.
