ST. LOUIS (AP) Sporting News is making big changes that reflect shifts in fans' news consumption habits.
The publication, which dates to 1886, said Tuesday it will begin a free digital daily sports newspaper July 23 called Sporting News Today. It will deliver scores, statistics and national stories to subscribers' electronic mail inboxes every morning.
On Sept. 1, the company's core publication, Sporting News Magazine, will be redesigned and enhanced and published every other week instead of weekly.
The print edition will be reintroduced with more color and better paper, increasing its resolution, graphics and aesthetic value, and feature contributions from John Feinstein, John Elway, Hank Steinbrenner and Roger Kahn, the company said.
