SPRINGVILLE — Weekend patrons to the Springville Museum of Art will have reason to linger a bit longer with the introduction of a cafe.

Recently given the nod by city officials, the cafe is open already in the museum's atrium. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday only "for now," said Scott Sheltre, a Stewart Fellow at the museum. "It may expand later," he said.

The museum has contracted with caterer Nice Lee Dunn to provide soups, sandwiches and light snacks in a warm-and-serve format.

The addition of a cafe gives art patrons reason to stay and "fall in love with the museum and the art" rather than just an hourlong experience, he said.

No construction was required to set up the cafe, which is already a popular setting with its skylight and water sculpture.
