PROVO (AP) — A Utah National Guard training camp is expanding.

Guard officials say Camp Williams is preparing to add up to 600 soldiers in the next few years. There are about 2,000 soldiers stationed at the camp now.

To get ready for the influx, the state is working to secure 300 acres of Bureau of Land Management land.

Officials say the camp should have the title to the land by this fall.

Camp Williams was chosen for expansion because of its ability to meet recruiting goals and re-enlist soldiers.
