Time is running out for the public to weigh in on Salt Lake City's 2008-09 fiscal year budget. The City Council has just two scheduled public meetings — Tuesday and June 17 — before the budget must be approved.

The council opens up a portion of its meetings to public comment, giving each speaker three minutes.

Some council members say the budget could be wrapped up Tuesday, meaning it would be the last time for public comment. It's more likely, though, that the discussions will continue into the June 17 meeting.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Room 315 of the Salt Lake City-County Building, 451 S. State. A work session prior to the meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. It also is open to the public.
