ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (AP) — Defending AMA Superbike champion Ben Spies raced to his record-breaking seventh straight victory Saturday, beating Suzuki teammate Mat Mladin by 8.78 seconds at Road America.

After crashing midway through the morning qualifying session, Spies took his fourth-straight pole position en route to the victory. Kawasaki rider Jamie Hacking finished third, followed by Honda Racing teammates Neil Hodgson and Miguel Duhamel.

With his victory, Spies leads the championship over Mladin by 45 points. Round 11 of the 19-race series will be run today on Road America's 4-mile, 14-turn course.
