People can destroy documents free on Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Smith Barney Building in Salt Lake City.

Smith Barney will combine efforts with Columbus Secure Shredding, a division of Columbus Community Center, to destroy sensitive information while providing employment for severely disabled workers.

The companies are sponsoring the event to raise awareness about employment potential of disabled workers.

Anyone can bring up to 100 pounds of documents that will be shredded by the strictest industry and federal standards.

Participants can watch their sensitive documents' destruction and get information about identity theft and identity protection.

The Smith Barney Building is located on 2825 E. Cottonwood Parkway (6400 South) in Salt Lake City. For more information about the free shred day call 262-1588.
