Regarding Eric Wadley's recent letter ("Obama should appeal to LDS," Readers' Forum, June 5): First of all, I am an American before I am a Mormon. If my church started to spout out the ridiculous trash that you have recently heard from the reverend and the Catholic father, I would be out of there in a flash.

It is not Obama's message that is discerning, it's his associations. There is a proverb that says: Show me who your friends are, and I will show you who you are. Obama needs to understand that he can't run as a "black" presidential candidate. That won't work. Only 15 percent of us are black. He needs to run as the presidential candidate who happens to have black skin. If Obama wants to be president of our great country, he needs to tell us who he really is. The loons will always be there, but they are not going to get him elected, I can assure you.
