In response to Steve T. Nixon ("Focus should be on a mission," Readers' Forum, June 5), the people of this fine state need to get one thing through their heads: Nobody's lives but their own are their own.

The young high school quarterback in question, and every young man, should be focused on whatever it is he has his heart set on to do. LDS missions are not a one-size-fits-all event, and they are not the right choice for everybody.

Heck, some of Utah's favorite sons — Donny Osmond and Steve Young come to mind — did not serve missions, either.

The status of RM has little impact on whether or not someone is a good man. Utahns would do well to keep that in mind.
