PROVO — Police in Utah County have arrested two men on suspicion of sexual assault in two separate incidents over the past week.

On Sunday, Provo police arrested a Provo man on investigation of forcible sodomy and rape, according to a 4th District Court affidavit of probable cause.

The victim told police that she and the man had been living together in an apartment for two weeks and had been engaging in consensual sexual relations. On Sunday, according to the affidavit, the woman told the men that she was too drunk and didn't want to have sex with him, according to the affidavit.

The victim told police the man forced her to perform sex acts on him, according to the affidavit. She said he then forced her onto a bed and forced her to have sexual intercourse with him, according to the affidavit.

The man allegedly inflicted bruises on the victim's arms and neck, according to the affidavit. The man was booked in Utah County Jail and is being held on $100,000 cash-only bail.

In a separate incident, Utah County Sheriff deputies arrested an 18-year-old Pleasant Grove man for investigation of aggravated sexual assault, forcible sodomy, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and unlawful detention.

Police were alerted when a woman at Mountain View Hospital in Payson reported that she had been raped during a camping trip in Nebo Creek Canyon. The victim told police that she and the man, whom she had known for approximately three months, had gone camping with another couple in Spanish Fork Canyon, according to a 4th District Court affidavit of probable cause.

According to the affidavit, the group brought beer and whiskey with them, and the victim said she went to bed after drinking 10 shots of whiskey and part of a bottle of beer. After a while the victim told police the man entered the tent, according to the affidavit. She tried to move away from the man a number of times, but he persisted and allegedly removed all of her clothes, according to the affidavit.

The man then allegedly attempted to engage in sex with the woman, ignoring her protests, according to the affidavit. Once she started protesting, he allegedly attempted to muffle her cries for help with his hand, nearly suffocating her, she told police, according to an affidavit.

After her protests, the victim told police, the man sodomized her while she begged him to stop. The woman said she was eventually able to flee from her tent and get help, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, numerous bite marks were visible on the victim's face, throat and shoulders. The woman also said the man made threats against her throughout the ordeal, according to the affidavit. The suspect was booked into Utah County Jail and held on $25,000 bail.
