In days gone by, big trucks used a frontage road, were relegated to an assigned lane, were limited to night-driving and were limited to a lower speed than the rest. Now, we have an "open road" system where any means of transportation from a two-wheeled motorbike to a three-trailer big rig can travel on the freeways and highways without any special guidelines.

Like others, I am uneasy getting "trapped" by trucks that hog the road and travel with excessive speed. U.S. Highway 89 to Beck Street is "rock-chip" gulch.

It is a miracle there are not more accidents or causalities on our roadways. With more construction and interruptions on our freeways this summer, won't government enforce some reasonable guidelines?
