A young man goes on an LDS mission because of personal conviction and belief in what he is doing. Young men choose to go on their mission because they have committed themselves to take on a challenge for two years for their church. Unfortunately, recent headlines about a high-profile former high school quarterback are disturbing. His concentration should be on his mission, not the ways of the world.
Universities and colleges should never be allowed to place these young men in these situations. Parents should be smarter than to publicly put their sons on display before the mission is complete.
