Utah's 2009 recruiting class has grown to three.
Chris Brown, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back from Newbury Park High School in California, is the latest player to give the Utes an early commitment. He plans to join Jordan High lineman Vyncent Jones and safety Jarrad Stewart of Pearland, Texas, in signing national letters of intent with the Utes in February.
Brown, who was named league MVP after rushing for 1,904 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior, chose Utah for a couple of reasons. He likes the program's strict academic structure and is eager to compete for playing time right away.
"I just want to compete," Brown said.
