Salt Lake County Undersheriff Beau Babka was not selected as a finalist to become the new sheriff in Orange County, Calif. .
Babka, who was born and raised in California, had been one of the final eight candidates. He was the only candidate currently not living in California.
Tuesday, the two finalists were announced by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Santa Ana Police Chief Paul Walters and Sandra Hutchens, a retired Los Angeles County sheriff's division chief, were selected.
Although Babka was not selected, his position and future with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office seems uncertain.
Sheriff Jim Winder told the Deseret News last week that it was "likely" the office would be getting a new undersheriff in the near future.
