In commemoration of the revelation extending the priesthood to all worthy males in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Genesis Group will hold its annual summer picnic Saturday and join with other members for a program Sunday.

Saturday's picnic will be held at 2 p.m. at Anzak Park, 1850 East and 7200 South in Salt Lake City. The event is free, with food and games provided, and open to all.

Sunday's program will be at 7 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Tickets are required and are free of charge. They can be reserved on the church's Web site, www.lds.org/events, or by calling 801-570-0080 (local) or 1-866-537-8457 (toll free). There is a limit of eight tickets per person.

Elder Earl C. Tingey of the Presidency of the Seventy and Elder Sheldon F. Child of the Seventy will speak, with several church members also giving inspirational messages. A multicultural choir, directed by Mack Wilberg, will perform.

During the celebration, the church will present a short video commemorating the June 1, 1978, revelation, which was ratified and announced June 8, 1978. The video will include interviews with several Genesis members as well as other black Latter-day Saints. For more information, visit the Genesis Group's Web site at www.ldsgenesisgroup.org.
