David Archuleta, "American Idol" runner-up and Murray's pride and joy, will perform a concert at the E Center Friday, according to davidarchuletafanblast.com.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets, which are $1, will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com. Proceeds will go to the MS Society and other charities.

E Center general manager Kevin M. Bruder confirmed the concert but was still hammering out details on Tuesday. It has been a crazy day, he said, because the concert announcement came on top of the various graduations that are happening at the E Center this week.

"There isn't a lot of information right now," Bruder said. "We're just about to go into a meeting to get more."

Still, Bruder said, the concert announcement was a "pleasant surprise. (The show) will be nice to have and we'll get more information out as it comes."

The concert announcement was even a surprise that to Archuleta's grandfather, Jim Archuleta. He learned of the performance when he heard the announcement on the radio Tuesday. In fact, he said he was with his son, Jeff, David's father, Monday evening and wasn't told of the concert.

"We were at my other grandson's baseball game and Jeff didn't tell me a thing," Jim Archuleta said. "So, I have as much information as you do. It was a complete surprise to hear about it."
