The recent announcements that two LDS missionaries have decided to play football at BYU rather than returning to schools to which they had earlier committed reminds me of Shawn Bradley and his decision 15 years ago, while serving his mission, to leave BYU's basketball program to turn pro.
Lee Benson, the Deseret News sports editor at the time, had the following comments in an article he wrote April 11, 1993:
"What's a Mormon missionary doing hiring an agent and making future business decisions when he's in the middle of his mission? (This is) an issue of focusing on what you're doing while you're doing it."
"...(D)on't pull the rug out from a program you signed on with in good faith and is counting on you to return."
Just wondering if anyone else thinks those comments are relevant today?
