Charles Krauthammer, the noted columnist, often proclaims logical ideas, but I've rarely seen an opinion piece so full of claptrap as on June 1. The core of his pronouncements is the identification of a knowledge class, including our planners, scientists, intellectuals, experts and their left-wing political allies, who are dishonest and have power as their motive. When communism and socialism didn't work, they (so the story goes) embraced environmentalism, for the same end — power.

Give me a break! Practically every paragraph is awash with name-calling, inane analogies and the denigration of the people our country needs the most. He is a master at couching his ridiculous notions in language that makes them appear sound. Pulitzer Prize, indeed!
