SPANISH FORK — U.S. 6 was closed for approximately 30 minutes just after 6 p.m. Monday as police and paramedics attended to woman who was involved in a 4-wheeler accident.

The accident took place at Sheep's Pit, a popular riding area for all-terrain vehicles in an unincorporated part of Utah County between Spanish Fork and Mapleton.

"When officers arrived on the scene, the woman was going in and out of consciousness and they were concerned about possible head injuries so they elected to call in the helicopter," said Lt. D. Gilbert of the Utah County Sheriff's Office.

The helicopter landed on U.S. 6 and the woman, 21, was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
