The National Committee for Quality Assurance has given UnitedHealthcare a Quality Plus Distinction for Physician and Hospital Quality.

The company, part of the UnitedHealth Group, is one of the first health plans in Utah to be so designated.

The voluntary program for all NCQA-accredited organizations evaluates how well a commercial health plan complies with standards in member connections, care management, health improvement, and physician and hospital quality. UnitedHealthcare now holds all three Quality Plus distinctions in Utah.

UnitedHealthcare's physician-measurement programs analyze physician practices against established clinical guidelines for quality care. Health-plan customers can access the information online at, where they can compare quality and cost-efficiency information for physicians and facilities within their communities.
