TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma banged out eight extra base hits, including six doubles, as they coasted to a 9-3 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Saturday night to take the first game of a four-game series.

The Rainiers got to Salt Lake starting pitcher Giancarlo Alvarado early in the game, as they scored two in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth.

Alvarado (3-1) lasted five innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Brad Coon led the Bees with two hits, including his second home run of the season, and two runs batted in. Chris Walker drove in the other Salt Lake run.
