VANOUVER, B.C. — The BYU club men's soccer took two losses in two days on the road in Canada on Friday and Saturday. The Cougars lost 2-0 to the Abbotsford Mariners before falling to the Vancouver Whitecaps U-23, 4-1.

"It was just too quick of a turnaround for us to play the Mariners last night and then the Whitecaps today at 3 p.m.," said team captain Clay Christenson. "But we're excited to play on our home field again and get some wins."

BYU (2-3-1 in the PDL) hosts the Yakima Reds and Tacoma Tide on June 13 and 14.

After a free kick in the 40th minute, Alex Semenes played the ball in and Ethan Gage headed it over BYU goalkeeper Bryan Black and it landed in the net.

In the 45th minute, the Whitecaps had a breakaway. BYU defender Drew VanWagenen stopped it, but the ball bounced right to Kyle Porter, who landed the ball in the net. The Whitecaps got another goal in the 53rd minute after Kyler Porter crossed the ball into the net.

In the 65th minute, the Mariners earned a penalty kick from a handball in the box and Ethan Gage scored his second goal.

BYU was able to win a goal in the 83rd minute when Steven Fellows played a through ball and Mike Moreno was able to put it into the back of the net.
