A Salt Lake man has been charged with shooting his brother-in-law in the head earlier this month.
On May 19, Robert Greg Martinez, 41, shot Ignacio Martinez at their home near 250 North and 1100 West, according to charges filed this week in 3rd District Court.
According to the charges, the suspect's sister saw Robert Martinez standing over the victim after the shooting and later heard the victim say, "It was your brother. It happened so fast."
Ignacio Martinez was taken to a hospital and has not regained consciousness, court documents state.
Robert Martinez turned himself in to police a few hours after the shooting. He had a "substantial amount of blood" on his clothing and a live .357-caliber round in his pocket, according to the charges.
Robert Martinez faces one count of attempted murder with injury, a first-degree felony.
