OREM — A 19-year-old Lehi man seemingly went to the wrong place for help Saturday afternoon.

The man locked his keys in his car and noticed an Orem police officer nearby who was writing a report in his patrol car, Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards said. The man went to the officer and asked for help in opening his car door.

Upon putting a wedge into the door jam of the man's car so he could use his unlocking tools, the officer caught a smell of recently burned marijuana. Saying nothing, the officer opened the car door and found a recently used marijuana pipe hidden inside the car in a pouch.

Edwards said the man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, relieved of possession of his pipe and sent on his way.
