PROVO — A man was arrested early Wednesday after witnesses told police they watched him twice turn his truck into a motorcyclist.

Late Tuesday night, a motorcyclist and truck driver were heading south on Redwood Road, said Saratoga Springs Police Cpl. Aaron Rosen.

The biker was following closely behind the truck to avoid deer, he said, but the truck driver didn't appreciate it, Rosen said.

As they got to the crossroads of Redwood Road and state Route 73, the truck turned into the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist tried to get away, but the 53-year-old truck driver from Eagle Mountain followed him and hit him again, this time causing him to crash, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.

At that point, the truck driver got out of his truck and began punching the motorcyclist. The cyclist had minor injuries from the accident and bruises from being pummeled, Rosen said.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault. He was released Thursday morning after posting bail.
