PROVO Good, old-fashioned detective work led to the recent arrest of a man in the serial theft of art.
The 30-year-old parolee was arrested Wednesday in a joint effort between Saratoga Springs police and officers from Davis County, said Saratoga Springs Cpl. Aaron Rosen.
Back in January, the man entered Greenwood Dental at 1307 N. Commerce Drive in Saratoga Springs and stole five pieces of James Christensen artwork from the wall.
The same man is believed to have also nabbed art from galleries in Farmington and Salt Lake County.
Saratoga officers were able to recover four of the five pieces stolen from the dental offices.
"It was the result of good old-fashioned police work," Rosen said. "Our detective started putting stuff together, tipped off Davis County, they tipped off Salt Lake County."
The man is being cooperative with the investigation, Rosen said, but there are numerous details they still need to figure out, including the value of the pieces that were recovered.
